On this website we provide Reflectories which are based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
Our society faces major challenges like climate change, hunger and marine pollution. With the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the international community has set itself corresponding goals to minimize these challenges. These goals shall be achieved by 2030. In order to reach these goals, we need skills like recognising interrelations, networked thinking, including different perspectives for decision-making and acting in the interests of sustainability. This can be practiced with Reflectories.
The word „Reflectory“ is made up of the terms „reflect“ and „story“. In a Reflectory one is integrated into a „story“. One listens to short audio tracks. Based on these tracks, one has to make decisions. Opinions of different actors as well as short texts and graphics help to select options for action. Depending on the decision, the story takes a different course and the consequences of the decisions become visible.
Choose a Reflectory and start with the story. To get ideas about using and working with Reflectories in lessons, information and materials are available in the category “for teachers”.
We are pleased, if you use a Reflectory.
Thank you very much for your support.
The Reflectories are developed by Prof. Dr. Gabriele Schrüfer, Dr. Katja Wrenger and Prof. Dr. Nina Brendel (now University of Potsdam) at the Institute of Geography Didactics of the Westphalian Wilhelms University.
Participated are expert scientists from Germany and Austria, colleagues from different schools in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria as well as student, technical and scientific assistants of the institute.
